Joint Journeys, life with arthritis by Carrie

Welcome to Arthritis Consumer Experts’ blog: Joint Journeys, life with arthritis by Carrie. Insightful, inspirational, heart-warming and fun, Carrie’s pieces are beyond living with arthritis – they are about life’s everyday moments, the ups and downs of a life worth living. A brief pause to look at life with a fresh lens, a breath of fresh air in our day and that reminds us we are not our arthritis; we are human beings living life, with arthritis. Carrie’s pieces will touch on travel, gardening, raising a family, exercise, and adventuring, among other life moments.

About Carrie

Carrie Barnes is an active, adventure-seeking mother of two who lives in Ontario. She and her husband have been on many long-distance hikes and enjoy spending time outdoors with friends and family. If she isn’t out on a run, you might find her trying a new recipe for her family or elbows deep in one of her many gardens. She works as a nurse at a local hospital and is an active member in her surrounding community.

Shortly after being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in 2009, she became involved in her local arthritis clinic as a Patient Ambassador. Over the years, she has developed a passion for sharing her experiences of living with a chronic disease with others, highlighting moments of hope that have arisen in her own life, in and amongst the struggle of living with rheumatoid arthritis.
